Maintenance I use full synthetic oils the engine and driveline. I'll use any full synthetic 10w30 motor oil currently on sale at time of purchase. I always use FRAM oil filters, I've never had a problem with them. The transmission, transfer case, and differentials receive Redline brand oils. Item
| Item Type
| Oil | Quantity | Interval | | Engine | 4.0 L
| 10w30 | 6 quarts | 6,000-8,000 m* | | Transmission | NV-3550 | MTL** | 2 quarts | 25,000-30,000 mi | Transfer case
| NV-231 | ATF
| 1.5 quarts | 25,000-30,000 mi | | Front Diff | Dana 30
| 75w90NS***
| ~2 quarts | 30,000-35,000 mi | Rear Diff
| Chrysler 8.25 | 75w90NS****
| ~2+ quarts
| 30,000-35,000 mi |
* Depends on how hard I am on engine. (offroad, driving conditions, 4x4, etc..) ** Redline MTL is 75w90 GL-4 gear oil. Same viscosity as 5w30. *** Redline NS branded oil is for open differentials (no posi or limited slip) **** I use 75w140 for ring & pinion break-in or towing.
